NEW AGE PARENTING - what's in it for children?

Before google maps was invented to guide us through our paths so that we don’t take an incorrect route and reach the wrong destination, God created this fool proof guide to lead us through our lives, we call them as “parents”.

Parents are like a compass to children’s’ life: whenever we feel lost in this vast world, parents’ guide us to be back on the right track. They form the most concrete foundation for all the “first impressions” in a Child's life. These first impressions during a child’s early life form a strong base or structure for its character and attitude towards life. Therefore it becomes supremely important for all the new age parents to get this point right: human beings possess the great power of bringing another life onto this world, but they should never forget that “with great power comes great responsibility”.

On the contrary, present scenario shows, parenting has become more fashion and less real. Most of the new generation parents’ goal is to portray themselves as a fashionable, cool, trendy and sophisticated parents, absolutely forgetting their core duty to understand the needs of their children. Internet has become a sole “go to” source for most of the present generation parents to guide their children from start to end. When children face any difficulties with regard to different aspects like health, food, school, friends, play, pressure and so on, they never try to understand the true nature of the problem bothering their child, instead the solution for any such problem shall be searched on the internet and the same will be implemented on the child without analyzing whether it is feasible for their child or not.  

Social media trends have become a serious basis for the present generation parents to lead their children. Be it clothing, food, toys, accessories etc. parents want them to be of the most popular choices. Most of the children, since childhood are being forced to learn or follow something they are not interested in, just because they are trending. Majority of the new age parents never try to pay attention to the mannerisms, character, likes and dislikes, developing habits, mental status etc. of their children, instead they are more engrossed in comparing the growth of their children with other children in their circle through their social media posts failing to recognize and nurture the real skills possessed by their own child.  

The sole focus of the new generation parenting is on making their children popular on the social media platform by following all the current trends irrespective of whether it is relevant or not. All they want is to showcase their children as  the best among their circle of friends and in this process, they have completely missed out on guiding them to focus on the real and practical experiences of life which is supremely essential for the children to inculcate the ability to independently carve a path of purpose in life.

Such kind of insensible and unrealistic parenting culture which is based on artificial and fictional beliefs are creating extreme complexities, confusions and misunderstanding about the authenticity of life in the minds of the children. The major downside of this is that children are growing up as extremely arrogant, insensitive and mean humans instead of confident, stable, kind and empathetic.

The development of any country is directly dependent on the quality of attitude of the young citizens. However this kind of parenting culture is creating children with unstable mind and attitude which will never enable them to think broadly about either self-development or contribution towards development of the nation.

Therefore, its high time to repair and tune the skills of new age parents by enabling them to imbibe a sense of realistic approach towards supporting and guiding their children through the walks of life while developing moral values and positive attitude in their minds rather than being engrossed in leading a happy and successful virtual life merely on social media which does not serve any kind of purpose at all.

A simple thought to live well.

Parenting is a passion. It is a surreal feeling of utmost purity which involves the supreme duty of sculpting our children into a beautiful sculpture with kind heart and strong mind. Hence, let us all strive to create this fashion of “passionate parenting” leaving behind all the impractical beliefs and holding on to the unalloyed set of ordinance framed by the God almighty himself.
