Corona- is there a deeper meaning to its sudden influx?

“One man’s food is other man’s poison”, quite literally in the current situation isn’t it not? This has definitely snatched the privilege of “carefree life” from the people and injected a sense of “careful living” causing serious turbulence among mankind. On the flip-side, this surely has given the whole of human clan the time to reconsider and rethink about certain practices & concepts, better understanding of which can help us regenerate peace & harmony throughout the world.

Now let us take it one at a time:

  • Entire world is locked down as this invisible pathogen has fixed its focus on defeating the humans- is having a tag of super power, developing nation or an underdeveloped country making any difference? Does the borders drawn by the humans to separate their land from that of the others matter anymore?
  • Whole of human race is pushed into a corner by this deadly virus- can belonging to a particular caste spare us from getting infected? If yes, the entire world population wouldn’t mind christening themselves under it as we now know, life is larger than everything else.
  • Every human is fighting to save himself and his family from this novel germ- Does being rich or poor, matter now? If it mattered, are all business magnets, presidents & political titans of various countries spared from the virus attack?
  • The “invincible species”, as the humans considered themselves to be due to their giant physique & astute intelligence, now every giant living being is considered vulnerable to the tiny, microscopic bacteria- does being huge or small in anyway decide your ability to perform?
  • While extending our understanding to survival strategies during this crisis, we have all involuntarily adapted ourselves to catering to just our basic needs – At least now are we aware of the key for “clean living”? Yes it’s true that, “comfort lies in remaining within the limit of our needs and refraining from upgrading it to wants/ luxury”
  • Is man a social being anymore? - In the course of proving this, he totally distanced himself from his roots i.e. family. Soon when socialising went overboard, nature introduced “Social distancing “as the survival technique- better late than never that we realise, “charity begins at home”, hence share, care & bond with family first, before you do it with others.
  •  As Stephen Covey’s “time management” matrix always says doing the tasks which fall under “urgent and important” quadrant is the wisest thing and priority- so at the current scenario, what do you think falls under this category- your professional tasks? Promotions & increments? Plans to buy luxury cars, houses & other goods? Or “ to simply be in the present & cherish every moment with yourself & your loved ones, as only the wise know, that’s what we take back with us”.
  • Whole world is solely conquered by this highly infectious untraceable bacteria that has subjected every man to confinement and defused his powers – does the overwhelming human greed to become unconquerable still exist? Does his arrogance to take control of the entire world still possess any meaning?
  • This lethal micro-organism has suddenly reminded us about what we had conveniently forgotten and were blindly engrossed in piling up materialistic wealth, yes “we are mortal beings and have limited time”. As it’s always believed “how you begin with anything becomes pale in comparison to the way we end it”. This surely urges us to reconsider our approach towards various things in life, so at least now shouldn’t we practice serene living with pure emotions, thoughts & actions to experience an unregretful end?

Keeping aside the factual & scientific references with corona virus and looking at it from a philosophical point of view makes us want to believe it to be a “reformer” that has suddenly barged into the world of humans with a clear purpose of abolishing the current way of sinful & unprincipled living and inculcating within us, the authentic recipe to live a clean life. By further unlocking this Pandora box, we get to understand a magical fact where we can witness the sense of “Equality” being reinjected into the system which was previously rarely beheld. This by far has proven the thought of having a close encounter with the creator himself as we all are aware of the fact “the creator never discriminates among his creations either while punishing or rewarding”.

As we are well aware through the above mentioned points, knowingly or unknowingly, the entire human clan has been lured into living a simple, contented & a happy life due to the virus outbreak and the same is proven by the below aspects i.e.

  • Little did we know that a small provision stores in the corner of our road always possessed all that we needed for a comfortable living with an added advantage of being “pocket friendly” unlike the high end super markets with “show off “ friendly international grocery brands.
  • Little did we know, that the sense of security comes from the availability of simple staples to eat, water to drink, few pairs of decent clothes to wear, a roof above your head and a few genuine souls to share your life with and not with powerful position, luxury houses, cars, gadgets, etc
  • Little did we know cooking with our loved ones, watching an old movie or a regional show on TV with them, pulling each other’s leg or simply being with your family is more amusing & satiating than weekend parties and attending other unimportant events to impress people to fulfill our wants?
  • Little did we know how conveniently we had forgotten the techniques to maintain our own things until we were cut off from the luxury of housekeepers / maids?
  • Little did we know, simply reading a book, practicing our hobbies and talking to your beloveds were such great stress busters than indulging in unnecessary shopping and misspending your hard earned money?
  • Little did we know, a simple wish with warm words was sufficient to make someone’s special day than giving expensive gifts.

Therefore underestimating the corona virus to just be another pandemic is not a sign of wisdom. It has certainly invaded the human life with a bigger purpose of enlightening the people about the three main principles to a balanced life that includes “equality”, “simplicity”, & “humanity” without which a “harmonious & virtuous society” remains just a dream.

Simple thoughts to live well

It becomes extra important to immediately understand the need of the hour which is to simply refrain from committing actions that are opposite to rules of the universe and human virtues.

Hence,
Never believe no one is watching upon how humans are conducting themselves
Be true to the self & nature, that’s the only way to show your gratitude to the creator.
Allow the greed to recede & righteousness to grow.
Long live the Mother Nature, long live the mankind!!

  5. It is good to see positive aspects also in every happening in our life and society. So is the case of corona too.
She looks at how it has rolled back the values and time together. People feeling the warmth of family, minimal needs, keeping safe and healthy practices, avoiding unnecessary spending, sudden change in eating habits, and many such things.
It is always good to remind ourselves for more humanity, share and care, and definitely feeling part of the entire creation of mother earth.
Good narration and observations by the author.
